Safer Internet Day 2020

Talk, Show and Send. This year Safer Internet Day will be celebrated on Tuesday, 11 February 2020. The theme is ‘Together for a better internet’ and Australia’s eSafety Commissioner is encouraging parents to mark the day by starting family conversations about online safety. You can download our Safer Internet Day resources at esafety.gov.au/sid and use them to start the chat about online safety with your family.

Keeping Safe in the Game

An eSafety Commissioner event for Safer Internet Day “Keeping safe in the game” for students in years 4-6. Empower students to keep safe when gaming. Students will explore skills for creating safer gaming environments including; balancing time online, dealing with abuse and cyberbullying, managing in-app purchases and accessing help and support.

Register your class or year (if students are going to be all be in the same room). Your School Online Safety Champion can assist you with further information on how to run the session.

Addressing Australian Curriculum Health and Physical Education outcomes including:

  • Practise skills to establish and manage relationships (ACPPS055)
  • Investigate community resources and ways to seek help about health, safety and wellbeing (ACPPS053)

And address elements of the General Capabilities including:

  • Personal and Social General Capability – Understanding relationships
  • ICT Capability – Apply personal security protocols
